世界が１００人の村だったら

１００人の村・・・誰かが私に興味深いお話を伝えてくれました。
もし現在の人類統計比率をきちんと盛り込んで、全世界を１００人の村に縮小するとどうなるでしょう？

５７人のアジア人、２１人のヨーロッパ人、１４人の南北アメリカ人、８人のアフリカ人がいます。
５２人が女性で、４８人が男性です。
７０人が有色人種で、３０人が白人です。
７０人がキリスト教以外の人たちで、３０人がキリスト教信者です。
８９人が異性愛者で、１１人が同性愛者です。
６人が全世界の富の５９％を所有し、その６人はアメリカ国籍です。
８０人は標準以下の居住環境に住んでいます。
７０人は文字が読めません。
５０人は栄養失調に苦しみ、１人が瀕死の状態にあり、１人は今生まれようとしています。
１人（そう！たった１人なのです。）は大学の教育を受けそして１人だけがコンピューターを所有しています。

もしこのように縮小された全体図から、私達の世界を見るなら、
「相手をあるがままに受け容れること！」「自分と違う人を理解すること！」
そして、そういう事実を知るための教育がいかに必要かは、火を見るより明らかです。

また次のような視点からもじっくり考えて見ましょう。
もしあなたが…
今朝目が覚めた時病気でなく健康だなと感じることが出来たなら、
…あなたは今週生き残る事のできないであろう１００万人の人たちより恵まれています。

もしあなたが…
戦いの危険や投獄される孤独や獄門の苦悩、あるいは飢えの悲痛を一度も経験したことがないのなら、
…あなたは世界の５億人の人たちより恵まれています。

もしあなたが…
しつこく苦しめられることや逮捕拷問、または死の恐怖を感じることなしに教会のミサに行くことが出来るなら、
…あなたは世界の３０億人の人たちより恵まれています。

もしあなたが…
冷蔵庫に食料があり着る服があり頭の上に屋根があり寝る場所があるなら、
…あなたは世界の７５％の人たちより裕福で恵まれています。

もしあなたが…銀行に預金がありお財布にお金があり、家のどこかに小銭が入った入れ物があるなら
…あなたはこの世界の中で最も裕福な上位８％のうちの一人です。

もしあなたが…
両親がともに健在でそして二人がまだ一緒なら、
…それはとても稀れなことです。

もしあなたが…
このメッセ－ジを読む事ができるなら、
…あなたはこの瞬間２倍の祝福を受けるでしょう。
何故ならあなたの事を思ってこれを伝えている誰かがいて、その上あなたは全く文字の読めない世界中の２０億の人々より、ずっと恵まれているからです。

お金に執着することなく喜んで働きましょう。
かって一度も傷ついたことがないかのごとく人を愛しましょう。

If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people,
with all the existing human ratios remaining the same,
it would look something like the following:

There would be:
57 Asians
21 Europeans
14 from the Western Hemisphere, both north and south
8 Africans

52 would be female
48 would be male

70 would be non-white
30 would be white

70 would be non-Christian
30 would be Christian

89 would be heterosexual
11 would be homosexual

6 people would possess 59% of the entire world's wealth
and all 6 would be from the United States.

80 would live in substandard housing
70 would be unable to read
50 would suffer from malnutrition
1 would be near death; 1 would be near birth
1 (yes, only 1) would have a college education
1 would own a computer

When one considers our world from such a compressedperspective,
the need for acceptance, understanding and education becomes glaringly apparent.

The following points are also something else to ponder...

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness...
you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation...
you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment,
arrest, torture, or death...
you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back,
a roof overhead and a place to sleep...
you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet,
and spare change in a dish someplace ...
you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are still alive and still married...you are very rare.

If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you,
and furthermore, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read at all.

Someone once said: What goes around comes around.

Work like you don't need the money.
Love like you've never been hurt.
Dance like no-one's watching.
Sing like no-one's listening.
Live like it's Heaven on Earth.
